2018 HIFF Spring Showcase Internships

HIFF internships offer opportunities to gain a broad range of work experiences in film festivals. HIFF interns work closely with festival staff to plan, coordinate, and implement special events, educational programs, and film screenings. Those interested should have interest in the arts and/or film.

HoMA Looking for Projectionists

The Honolulu Museum of Art is looking for part-time projectionists. The position has good hours for a college student, passionate filmmakers get to view a lot films and socialize with lovers of film who attend events, and it offers a networking opportunities with not only audience goers but other filmmakers. This position is a great segue into a well-connected venue and professional association that will look excellent on a student/filmmakerʻs resume.

Writers/Directors Needed

StoryMotions, Inc. is launching a mobile app that delivers stories as interactive audio-guided walks about Hawaii’s history and culture in English, Chinese, and Japanese, and they are seeking writers/directors (storytellers) interested in creating a narrative that takes audiences on an adventure through physical locations.

Fall 2017 Internships

ACM is proud to continue our tradition of offering internships for credit through ACM 495 in collaboration with companies heavily involved in the local film industry for the Fall 2017 semester.

2017 Da Pidgin Film Festival

The Fall 2017 Da Pidgin Film Festival showcases student films in and about Pidgin. The film festival will be held November, 2017 on the UH-Mānoa campus. $250 will be awarded to the top film, and $100 will be given to selected films!

HIFF 2017 Call for Entries

Submit your ACM film to the 2017 Hawaii International Film Festival! The entry deadline is Monday, July 17th. All ACM recent ACM films made for ACM courses are eligible to enter.

2017 ACM Awards – Deadline Extended

All currently enrolled UHM students who have created work in ACM classes are eligible and encouraged to enter their films in the 2017 ACM Awards. All accepted films will be screened at the ACM Screening Showcase on Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29, 2017. The ACM Awards Ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017. Deadline for entry is Wednesday, April 19th!

SMART co-Lab Bologna – Call for Entries

ACM is offering a new SMART co-Lab this year though the International Film Academy (IFA) in Bologna, Italy. The program, which takes place from June 24 – July 15, brings together advanced undergraduate and graduate students from top film programs around the world to study with master filmmakers, immerse themselves in new technologies, and participate in a top European film festival.

Documentary Filmmaking Maestraclass

During this Maestraclass, Kim A. Snyder will present how the camera/film can be used to bear witness to highly sensitive topics. Through an examination of the collective trauma depicted in the award-winning documentary NEWTOWN, this interactive conversation will explore ethical issues inherent in the process, how film can provide a path toward healing communities, and ultimately transform grief into social impact.

Videographers Needed for Dance Studio

Arthur Murray Dance Studio is holding a student/teacher dance routine showcase on Saturday, February 25 from 6pm to 9:30pm at their brand new studio located at 770 Kapiolani. They are offering two free Private Dance lessons of the dance style of your choice (valued at $150.00 each) to any ACM students who would be willing to videotape the performances and do some light editing of the footage.

‘Ohina 2017 Call for Entries

The 2017 ‘Ohina Short Film Showcase will be held on September 1, 2017 at the Historic Hawai’i Theatre. The showcase has opened it’s call for entries, and there is no entry fee for student films.
