Aloha students and friends of the Academy for Creative Media. In this Update: Win $1,250 for your screenplay, and enter your film for a trip to Shanghai!

WIN $1,250 TO PRODUCE YOUR FILM!

ACM kicks off its 2nd Annual GRACE K.J. ABERNATHY SCREENWRITING COMPETITION with two awards of $1,250 to go toward producing winning screenplays for the screen. In addition to the two awards, the competition also includes a $1,250 Women Filmmaker's Initiative Award. ACM majors who will be continuing students and whose grade point average is at least 2.75 are eligible. Submit to the ACM office, Crawford 210, by 4pm on Friday, April 20, 2007: A final draft of your screenplay; a one-paragraph synopsis of the story; and a preliminary budget indicating all costs of production and post production.

Winning students are required to produce their films as part of an ACM 399 or ACM 499 Directed Study. All winners must agree to provide the Academy for Creative Media a production journal outlining pre-production, shooting and post production schedules, as well as any rough, director's and/or final cuts of the production, which shall be copyrighted as an ACM Production. For information, contact Asst. Prof. Joel Moffett. The competition and Women's Filmmaker Initiative Award are made possible by the Grace K.J. Abernathy Student Assistance Fund.
