Aloha Students and Friends of the Academy for Creative Media. In this update: Animation Master Class; Student Film Auditions; Faculty and Student Film Screenings.

ANIMATION STARS JOIN MASTER CLASS LINEUP MARCH 8

More media stars will shine in ACM's Spring 07 Master Class Series. Joining us March 8 at 10:30 am in Webster 112 will be LEO CHU and ERIC GARCIA, the pair responsible for AFRO SAMURAI on SpikeTV.

Leo is SpikeTV/MTV's head of animation and executive producer of AFRO SAMURAI as well as HOWARD STERN: THE HIGH SCHOOL YEARS. He's the former VP for Creative Affairs for Walt Disney Feature Animation, where he served as creative producer for FINDING NEMO, MULAN, LILO & STITCH and the upcoming MEET THE ROBINSON'S.

Eric is creative consultant on AFRO SAMURAI and is developing a new series for the network. He's worked on the U.S. adaptations of legendary animation director Hayao Miyazaki's KIKI'S DELIVERY SERVICE and CASTLE IN THE SKY, as well as Walt Disney Television Animation on such projects as RECESS and LLOYD IN SPACE.

This ACM Master Class is supported by the Jay Shidler Family Foundation.

ACM AT THE LEGISLATURE

FACULTY FILM FEATURED IN WEEKEND FESTIVAL

The always-noteworthy Kirk Cashmere Jewish Film Festival runs Thursday through Monday (Feb. 19) at Spalding Hall. ACM instructor Marlene Booth's documentary WHEN I WAS FOURTEEN: A SURVIVOR REMEMBERS screens Monday at 4:30 p.m. Marlene will also discuss her portrait of holocaust survivor Floria Lyon.

ACM STUDENTS SCREEN THEIR FILMS

Nelson Quan will screen and discuss his CRIMINALLY INEPT Friday at 6 pm in Law School Classroom 2, part of MOVIE NIGHT organized by ACM students as well as their screenwriters' club meeting at 4:30 pm Friday in Campus Center 3rd Floor.

Jacob Holcomb's documentary, LOST JEWEL OF THE ATLANTIC will screen on campus as part of the Ocean Planet Film Festival Feb. 22 at 7 pm and Feb. 25 at 5 pm in Spalding Auditorium.

AUDITIONS, CREW CALL

"Home Again," a film based on ACM student Joelle-Lyn Sarte's Women's Filmmaker Initiative winning screenplay, will be holding auditions on February 17, 24 & 25 from 9am to 5pm at Crawford 105.
