ACM Update #6 FALL 2006
October 27, 2006

Aloha students and friends of the Academy for Creative Media. In this update: ACM scores at HIFF; Your change to talk with Cameron Crowe; and the Hawaiinuiakea Film Festival.

DAO GETS HAWAI'I INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL SPECIAL MENTION

ACM scored big in the 2006 Louis Vuitton Hawai'i International Film Festival. DAO, an ACM student film by Jay Hubert was given a special mention in the Hawai'i Filmmakers competition.

DAO was featured in a sold-out SRO HIFF screening along with ACM student films SORE SHOULDERS AND ACHING JAWS by Roger Nakamine; EVE by Brian Makanoa; MY FATHER'S STORY by Joelle-Lyn Satre; FOLLOW THE LEADER by Ty Sanga and CHOPSTICKS by Henry Mochida.

Students also crowded into ACM Master Classes on Acting with Kal Penn, and on Directing with Justin Lin, both held on campus as part of the ACM-HIFF partnership. The first international student films at HIFF were co-sponsored by ACM in our ongoing SMART (Student Media Art) Exchange. The Shanghai University student filmmakers and faculty were guests of ACM and were presented certificates at the Justin Lin Master Class.
