April 4, 2006

Aloha Students, Faculty and Friends of the Academy for Creative Media. Meet a Master Director; More ACM Student Films in More Festivals (Have You Submitted Yours?); And money to make your film!

ACM MASTER CLASS WITH MASTER DIRECTOR RANDAL KLEISER

All ACM students are invited to join Randall Kleiser April 17, an internationally recognized film director since the release of his first feature, GREASE, the most successful movie musical ever made. Directing such landmark films as The BLUE LAGOON, WHITE FANG and IT'S MY PARTY, Kleiser has worked with some of the most esteemed actors of our day including John Travolta, Lynn Redgrave, Helena Bonham Carter, and Sir John Gielgud. He also serves on the board of the DIRECTORS GUILD OF AMERICA, where he is inaugurating a videoconferencing program to connect film school classes across the country with working directors in Hollywood.

Find out first hand the answers to such questions as How do you pursue a directing career within the studio system? As an independent director, how do you become a member of the DGA? What is the difference between directing for film and directing for television?

The session is open to all ACM students, Monday April 17 from 11-12:30 in the Campus Center Executive Dining Room. Coffee, juice, pastries and cookies for all! Let Lily Ching know if you're coming. Get yourself ready to talk to Randal Kleiser about his films by viewing his best from the Wong A/V Center in Sinclair Library: GREASE (Videotape 12497), IT'S MY PARTY (DVD 2317), and BLUE LAGOON (Videotape 11822).

Kleiser's Master Class follows the successful and noteworthy ACM session with director Zhang Yimou. The ACM Master Class Program is funded by the Jay Shidler Family Foundation.
