Portfolio Requirements
for Spring 2010 ACM 215/216 Animation classes:
Submit a portfolio of 10 (ten) pages of your best drawings from life.
Drawings of people and animals, from one-minute gestures to longer poses.
Landscape drawings from life, interiors and exteriors are also encouraged.
Do not try to clean up the drawings by erasing the construction lines.
These under-drawing/construction lines are especially helpful to the faculty in understanding how you approach life drawing.
Do not include digitally drawn (wacom tablet drawings), or digitally cleaned up life drawings.

Additionally you have the option to include 5 examples of the following:
Caricatures, cartoons, sketchbooks, flip books, animated films, digital art and fine art.
Animation and time-based media must be 3 minutes or less. |
Review is based on
Observational skill (the ability to record what you see),
Expressiveness (the ability to capture movement, expression, or gesture)
Design (demonstrates an understanding of simple composition)
Ability to follow the submission instructions
Recommended classes: Art 214, 215, Art 113, 115

We do not ship portfolios!
Mailed portfolios must include scanned artwork only, as mailed portfolios will not be returned.
Only portfolios which can be picked-up on request may include original artwork.
Portfolios which are not picked-up at the arranged time will be forfeit.
Digital portfolios on CD's or mac compatible (-) DVD's of scanned, hand-drawn images. are accepted
Portfolio Submission Form
Portfolios must include the portfolio submission form, portfolios which do not include a submission form will not be considered.
Clearly and securely label portfolio with your name, address, and phone number.
Online Submission
E-mail a link to your website or blog, and include submission form.
E-mailed image/animation files will not be considered, we want to see your presentation, e.g. website, hard portfolio, or digital presentation

300 level Animation classes are restricted to ACM majors.
If you interested in pursuing the Animation and Gaming track,
it is HIGHLY recommended you take ACM 255 before or with ACM 215/216.
And read the ACM major requirements. |
Local Drawing Workshops:

1. Sunday 9:30 AM-12:30 PM life session @ UH Art Building Rm 324 Studio. fee is $5.
2. Tuesday night life drawing 7-9:30 PM @ Chaminade. Fee is about $5 depending on the number of attendees.
3. Friday 9-12 Noon @ Windward Community College Life drawing; fee is $5. snowden@hawaii.edu
4. Monday 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM Independent Portrait Painting Session (no instruction) @ Academy of Arts Linekona Building.
The coordinator is Yoko Radke who gets the model. Anyone is accepted and the fee is about $3 to pay the model's fee of $30. |
