ACM Mānoa Films Shine at ‘Ohina Short Film Showcase

ACM Mānoa had a strong showing at the 2016 ‘Ohina Short Film Showcase, an annual film festival that showcases local films and talent. This year’s selected films include three ACM student films, one ACM faculty-student-alumni interdepartmental collaboration, and one ACM alumni film.

ACM Student Films:

  • Aloha Vegas – Ai Okuno
A bittersweet romantic dark comedy exploring the life of a middle age couple from Hawaiʻi. Diagnosed with cancer, Rock, an easy-going heavy smoker convinces his cautious wife Lucy to travel to Las Vegas. With less than a week to live, he is willing to do anything to get wild and have fun.
  • B-Movie – Alana Bombino
When Liann, the 5th grade perfectionist, is paired up with Louie, the class clown, she must learn to compromise on their video or risk losing Louie as her partner and failing the assignment.
  • Millie 94 – Akane Kashiwazaki
A short documentary following the amazing story of Mildred Ball-Wilson, a surfer girl, at the age of 94, whose old age challenges her pursuit to continue her passion for riding the Waikiki swells.

Both local and UH news covered the ‘China Short Film Showcase and ACM Mānoa films at the showcase.
